Salique born 28 March 1990) is an English singer-songwriter and fitness model.

Early life

Salique was born and brought up in Camden Town, London, England, and is of Bangladeshi origin. At the age of 10, he first realised his passion for music and was encouraged by his mother.

Salique did A-levels in maths, business studies and drama. In 2012, he graduated in civil engineering from Kingston University.

Career

Salique has listened to and been inspired by artists from the East and West. At the age of 16, he first recorded in a studio with family friend Mumzy Stranger. On 24 October 2013, his debut single "Let Me In" was released with independent UK record company Black Label Records. The single was produced by and features Mumzy Stranger, and has a sound with a fusion of R&B, Asian and Arabic harmonies with soulful Punjabi and Arabic influences. The single was number one on the world iTunes music chart. On 6 November 2013, the video was released.

In October 2013, Salique was interviewed by Nihal on BBC Asian Network. In December 2013, he was interviewed by Gagan Grewal on BBC Asian Network.

On 22 February 2014, Salique's second single "Call on Me" was released, produced by Official Vee. On 28 August 2014, his third single "Yallah Azizi (I Think I Love You)" was released, produced by Official Vee. The song is a distinct fusion of R&B, Eastern and Arabic harmonies, including Urdu and Arabic lyrics. The single immediately took the number one position on the iTunes world music chart and secured the number two spot on the BBC Asian Network Official Chart. In August of the same year, Salique performed at the London Mela in Gunnersbury Park, London.

On 23 April 2016, Salique and his song "I Think I Love You (Yallah Azizi)" appeared in DramaSetterz official freestyle dance video alongside Puremovements (Iksy and Kash), Bengali Blitz and Faglaa Jay.

Salique is currently working with producer 2Play (Wesley Johnson). Salique's urban sound reflects his musical interest combining a British and Desi influence which pays homage to his cultural background. In addition to his Urban and Desi side, Salique can sing in Arabic too.

Salique has also modelled for sports and fitness magazines.
